Mollie, our rescued Rottweiler, had a personality change after being bitten by a rattlesnake this summer. From a shy, skittish dog, she emerged into a more robust, outgoing personality. But now she has bone cancer.

The Ducks Are Not Decoying This Year

I have heard from Florida hunters that ducks are not decoying while last year they did. Did they learn last year? Will they remember not to decoy the next year and the next until all the educated ducks die off, and once again the blocks will draw them in? Peter Nickerson at 352-359-0850.

Falling Squirrels and Trees

I am spending so much time outdoors recently that I have seen squirrels falling out of trees on two consecutive days. The second day, the squirrel did not get up quickly, and I almost walked over to him before he ran for the nearest tree trunk. Another time I was outdoors and the pack was lying about fifty feet away. Suddenly a rotten tree with only a few limbs left at the top fell onto the ground, almost hitting the dogs. They were completely nonplussed except for Midge, the huntress. She got up and nervously circled the fallen tree. Two-Guns at 352-359-0850.
